So here’s what I’ll be doing for the next week. I’m severely looking forward to getting home again for Wawa, a Tony Luke’s cheesesteak, soft pretzels, “wooder”, Rita’s Ice, and Yuengling.
You’d think I’d get tired of looking forward to the same things, but I really don’t.
Tomorrow kicks off the Rocket Miner spring tour! Be sure to catch us at any of the following dates, and pick up either (or both!) of our limited run shirts. We’ll be tweeting along the way with the hashtag “#RMEast”, and we haven’t decided yet if that’ll be a good or a bad thing.
Hope to see everyone everywhere. We’ll be melting faces and breaking hearts from here to the Atlantic.
Saturday 5-12 @ The Oasis, Grayslake IL (with Sioum, Bridges of Konigsberg, American Wolf)
Thursday 5-17 @ The Summit, Columbus OH (with The Receiver, Old Worlds, Brujas del Sol)
Friday 5-18 @ North Star Bar, Philadelphia PA (with The Party Faithful, North End, The Defog, Facts)
Saturday 5-19 @ Bar Matchless, Brooklyn NYC (with The Party Faithful, Verses Narrow, The Dharma Body, The Faulkner Detectives)

Happy re-release day! Our Songs For An October Sky [EP] is now available on Oxide Tones as of today.
Coinciding with its re-release, we are happy to present a music video for “It’s The End Of The World (But This Is Just The Beginning)”. Directed by Jeffrey Moore of Axtravaganza Films, with additional footage shot by Gary M Schultz and Rob Stern.

I’m excited to say that Rocket Miner’s EP, Songs For An October Sky, was recently picked up by German post-rock label Oxide Tones and is slated for re-release on Friday April 13 2012.
Additionally, the video for Rocket Miner’s “It’s The End Of The World (But This Is Just The Beginning)” wrapped shooting over the weekend and (fingers crossed) should be ready on or before 4/13. Many thanks again go out to Jeffrey Moore of Axtravaganza Films, Gary Schultz, and Rob Stern for all their help.
Just got home with some early production stills from a video shoot for Rocket Miner tonight. Follow this link to the song we’re going with, tracked and mix by yours truly and mastered by Azimuth Mastering.
We’re working with a script treatment from Jeffrey Moore of Axtravaganza Films and tonight was our shoot for the live segment footage (Second Unit). Great experience tonight, there’s still plenty more work to come.

- Camera- Rob Stern
From what I’ve seen of the early captures, this is going to look so SLICK. Can’t wait to share the finished product.
Photos from touring last weekend with Rocket Miner and Old Worlds. We stopped through Chicago, Saint Louis, and Columbus OH. Many blasts were had by all.
Also, another “Forgive Yourself” graffiti at CBGBs in Saint Louis matches the one off Milwaukee Ave between the Damen and Division blue line stop. Score.
BTB: Girl Power
Last night was a very special treat. Not only did we get to play with our friends in Rocket Miner from Chicago, IL, there were also female musicians in ALL but one band on the bill!
I get really excited whenever I see other women in bands doing their thing and holding their own. Unfortunately, my experience in trying to reach out to my fellow lady musicians has not always been the most positive. Most of them have been standoffish, shy, or just plain passive aggressive. I try not to take it personally but, dang it, I want community!
It’s hard enough being a female musician and/or singer in a band.
NO, we are not:
-The merch girl
-The groupie
-Here for you to ogle…and in the words of Good Clean Fun, “Get it through your head: I’m not here for you to [screw] me!”
Last night was an exception to all of my previous frustrations…I made friends with my fellow woman! There was just a general good-feeling that was exchanged amongst us. No competition or insecurities, no passive aggression or indifference. It was all about our appreciation for one another and our different talents.
I would love to see more community like this. We go though so many of the same frustrations and difficulties as musicians - there’s no reason to ignore each other. We’re all in this together! And now I am even more excited to see more women involved in music.

Mini vacation over, back to the grind.
I recently “experienced” (for lack a better term) an interactive theater production called En Route, in which you are led via text around the Chicago Loop in a sort-of scavenger hunt style maze. Seriously, it was a LOT of fun.
Read/Watch more about the show HERE. And, oh yeah, two of my bands are featured on its soundtrack..
